Chapter Awards

Chapter awards allow the National ESG Office to recognize the successes of chapters. There are two categories of awards, competitive activity awards and non-competitive recognition of chapters meeting ESG standards. Each chapter should set goals to apply for at least one award each year. Chapters must be in good standing with the ESG National Office, to be eligible for any of these awards.

Chapter Activity Awards

Chapters that engage in a teaching, service, advocacy and/or research activity should consider applying for an ESG Chapter Activity Award. Chapters will be asked to describe their activity and how it has met the ESG Standards. This is a competitive award, with one chapter being selected for each activity award, which comes with a $250 award for the chapter and a certificate presented at the Annual Meeting.

New Chapter Award (New in 2026!)

This award allows the National ESG Office to recognize new and reactivated chapters that show a commitment to the mission of ESG and meaningful engagement in building the chapter's sustainability through teaching, service, research and/or advocacy. This award comes with a $250 award for the chapter and a certificate presented at the annual meeting.

Recognizing and supporting new and reactivated chapters strengthens the long-term health of ESG. These chapters are in critical stages of building or rebuilding membership, leadership, and traditions. The award money can be used as a seed grant to provide essential resources to launch student-led projects in ESG's pillars, reinforcing chapter sustainability and professional development opportunities. Strong early support increases the likelihood that chapters remain active contributors to the mission and visibility of ESG.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Newly chartered chapters (less than three years old), or
  • Reactivated Chapters: reactivated chapters are one that has not met the ESG Standards (no annual reports, meetings or activities) for four or more years, and has gone through the reactivation process
